Format citations in Word
If when you insert a citation into a Word document it displays in curly brackets
e.g. {Smith, 2001 #8}
it just means that the automatic formatting option has been turned off. To turn it back on simply follow the steps below:

- From the EndNote toolbar in Word, click on the Format Bibliography icon (3rd from the left)
- Select the Instant Formatting tab
- Select the Turn On instant formatting option, then click OK.
Your citations should automatically format themselves and any further citations that you add will appear as normal.
