Sharing references from an EndNote library with another EndNote user

If you are working on a group project with other people and need to use the same references you can easily export them from one EndNote library into another. Simply follow the steps below:

  • In the EndNote library select the group of references that you want to export, so that they are displayed in the main window
  • Click on File > Export…
  • Use the drop down menu Output style to select RefMan (RIS) Export
  • Give the file a name and save it in the normal way

Importing references

  • Open the EndNote library that you want to put the references into
  • Click on File > Import…
  • Click on Choose File… and select the file of references you want to import
  • Under Import Option select RefMan RIS
  • Click on Import

The references will be imported into the EndNote library.
