Inactive menu commands

Sometimes when you open a menu in EndNote you may find that the command you need is greyed out and inactive (e.g. New Reference, Import). If this happens simply close the menu and click anywhere in the main reference list on the right of the screen. Go back to the menu and the command should now be available.

Missing menu commands

Sometimes some of the basic menu commands in EndNoteX1 e.g. File>Import, References>New Reference are greyed out and unavailable. This is usually because the Groups part of the screen is highlighted. Simply come out of the menu and click anywhere in the right hand References part of the screen and then re-open the menu. The command should now be active.
